Recorded Rehearsals

    

Scudley Records can provide recorded rehearsals for bands of up to 4 instruments and two singers.  The booking is for 3 hours, which will be recorded using studio microphones and Pro Tools 8 software, the industry standard recording DAW (Digital Audio Work-Station).  You will recieve a copy of the recording in .mp3 format so that the entire session can fit onto one disc and provide you with uninterupted audio of your rehearsal.

Advantages of recorded rehearsals

Most bands will rehearse for 2 to 4 hours everytime they jam, and during that time a lot of ideas will be discussed, some important changes or additions to songs will be made and the decisions made during the rehearsal could either make or break a song.  But in most cases, rehearsals can be two to three weeks apart, and the last thing you want is to forget important little ideas worked out during the previous rehearsal.  With recorded rehearsals you won’t have that problem, because everything is saved onto disc and right there, ready for you to review. 

A lot of songs are created in rehearsals, most of which will be improvised lines or particular beats which are made up on the spot.  Too frequently these ideas are lost because they may have happened early in the jam, and so the players may forget exactly what they played (a frustration known all too well by players who hear “that bit you played a few bars back was great!  Do it again.” and of course, you don’t know which bit they mean)  In this situation, recorded rehearsals can have a massive impact on how productive a jam can turn out, because it’s right there, waiting to be played back – everything is recorded so no ideas are lost.

Some bands simply can’t afford to record.  So by getting a few choice songs played well during your rehearsal, you could use the recordings as a rough demo to show friends, submit for competitions, load onto triple j unearthed or myspace  – the list goes on.
