Local Perth artist Bakia Arslanoski comes in for a chat about her music and to perform 4 songs:

1. When you sing
2. Because of him
3. So soon
4. All is possible

Bakia has something very special to offer the world. Her music is incredibly dynamic, ranging from gentle love songs such as “I know you’ll come home” which was featured on Folklore and has been broadcast through ‘Close to Nowhere’ right through to very energetic guitar driven songs. But they all share a common thread, a special tie which brings them all together into one unified sound – but I just don’t know how to describe it, it’s so unique. Bakia’s instrumentation is one thing, but her voice is quite another. You don’t get many artists who can sing the way Bakia does, totally focused on her message and lead by her faith in God, Bakia Arslanoski has a unique gift which is sure to bring the most complex of feelings into a clear light for all to witness

This is the big one – Close to Nowhere is taking to the stage on Saturday the 28th of August.

Perth’s amazing grass-roots music scene is thriving, yet most of the people in Perth don’t even realize that it exists, and why? The answer is simple. Grass-roots artists simply aren’t given the stage time that cover bands get. But Scudley Records wants to change all that, starting right now. So how do you bring the music of Perth from the streets to the masses? The answer was simple – Close to Nowhere.

The first step was to get these artists on tape. A lot of them have never been recorded before, so it’s the first time this music has been heard outside of the pubs and bars the artists have been slogging it out in. So from that, Perth’s first ever grass-roots compilation album was created, called FOLKLORE. It features 18 grass-roots artists and their amazing music. The artists range from soloists, duos, full bands, and the incredible Heath Marshall who has to be seen to be believed.

The second step was to get the album heard, to show the people of Perth the amazing music being performed in their city. So in an attempt to get the album spread around town, Scudley Records is offering it entirely FREE. The full album, including all artwork, is available for direct download (no need to register or give any personal details) at

www.scudleyrecords.com

The third step is the most exciting – bringing these artists together for a live concert. So Scudley Records, in conjunction with The Flyby Night, is proud to announce:

Close to nowhere

Since the styles of music featured on Folklore are so varied, the title just didn’t seem do it justice. So this concert is a culmination of the great versatility of styles evolving out of this city. And why the name Close to Nowhere? Simple – it’s because that’s exactly where Perth is!

WHEN: Saturday, 28th of August @ 7:30pm

WHERE: The Flyby Night (Get tickets here: www.flybynight.org )

- It will be a licensed gig.

Scudley Records is proud to bring Close to Nowhere to the stage for one amazing night of original music. This will be a pivotal event in bringing Perth’s hidden music scene to its people. This is truly an event not to be missed, and is the start of an amazing journey for these artists and their music.
