My chicken plays music
Scudley Records has released many projects this year, from Brendan Gaspari’s EP “Get through tonight”, Pete Usher’s album “Clear Vision”, the grass-roots compilation album “Folklore” and the upcoming release of Inner Second’s new EP, Terri Eggie’s album “Something Simple” and Heath Marshall’s debut album in current production – but THIS is something that’s quite unique.
When I first started my radio show “Close to Nowhere”, I had to come up with many segment ideas because I didn’t want it to simply be “…and that was a new artist from here in Perth. And now to another one…” I wanted to have some interesting segments which were entertaining and kept listeners interested throughout the hour.
One of these ideas involved going into my chicken pen, setting up a recording device near their feed, and recording the immanent pecking. I’d then take the recording and turn the rhythms into beats, and then produce an entire song around that rhythm. This was the idea for MY CHICKEN PLAYS MUSIC:
For months I would routinely go into the pen, record the pecking and produce the music, and finally I have come to the moment where MY CHICKEN PLAYS MUSIC – Volume One is ready for an unsuspecting public!
