It begins…
Well it’s been a long time in the making, but today a new show is born. It’s name, Close to Nowhere.
But why the strange name? Well, the name is very much a commentary on where this show is being recorded, in the most isolated city in the world – Perth, Western Australia.
In this show, the music of Perth will be showcased for the whole world to hear, a lot of it has never been heard outside of Western Australia, let alone the country. Listeners of Recharged Radio will be the first to be exposed to it, and through this show you will learn about the in and outs of the music being created here, as well as some interesting facts about Perth as a city.
You may recognize the voice that steers you erratically through the show, since the host is also the interviewer featured in The Scudley Sessions which are broadcast bi-monthly through the Justin Wayne show. Peter Renzullo has a unique insight into the world of music way down in this little patch of earth, and along the way you’ll be treated to some interactive segments in which you have to get in touch with Peter and be the first to answer the questions being delivered during the segment, which will earn you a shout out in the next week’s show and also give you control over what will be in the next week’s segment. Confused? Not surprising, but rest assured that everything is explained in this episode.
Now for the music.
This week the music being featured is from the album FOLKLORE which was recorded and produced through Scudley Records in Perth. It features grass-roots artists from Perth and their unique folk and blues music, a lot of which has never been recorded so the only place you could hear it was mid-week in some back alley pub after 10pm.
Here’s the set list:
- Damn Shame – The Scuttle Bugs
- Raw – Miche Suite
- Let it Slide – Lost, not hiding
- Out of me depth – Pete Usher
- Four kinds of Cheese – Heath Marshall
- Ballad of Dangerous Dave – Andrew P Bond

Show segments
YOUTRIVIA
The first segment featured in this episode is called YouTrivia. The way this works is that listeners will be asked three trivia questions about videos which have been produced at Scudley Records and uploaded onto YouTube. The first person to write in to youtrivia@hotmail.com with the three correct answers gets mentioned on next week’s show, so get cracking!
MADMAN’S MANDOLIN MEDLEY!
The second segment on the show is called Madman’s Mandolin Medley, and is s segment in which I, Peter Renzullo will perform a medley of two well known tunes on the mandolin. You’re task, as the valued listener is to guess the two songs being meddled with and write in to madmansmandolin@hotmail.com with the correct answer which will earn you a mention on next week’s show. BUT, that’s not all; the winner also gets to choose the NEXT TWO SONGS which will be made into a medley for next week’s show! You win, you decide.
PERTH 101
Perth 101 is a segment dedicated to bringing you interesting facts about the city of Perth, Western Australia. The segment is like a master class on all things Perthian, and every few weeks I’ll be holding a test in which I’ll be asking questions about things I’ve taught you
MY CHICKENS PLAY MUSIC
Yes, a very strange title, but nonetheless very true! Well sort of…
What I’ve done to create this segment is record my chickens performing some rhythmic patterns (find out how in the show) and then create a piece of music revolving around that rhythm – before you pass judgment have a listen and let me know what you think (Might be pushing my luck with this one)
If you’d like to get in touch with me you can contact me at peter@scudleyrecords.com and also join my facebook fan page, just look for Close to Nowhere.
Until next week!

I love the segment where the chicken makes music!
Great show.
